Une centaine de photographies pouvant choquer sont floutées. Elles sont accessibles sur demande grâce à un code d'accès personnel que vous pouvez obtenir en allant dans la rubrique Contact (onglet Infos pratiques).

L’Institut d’Information en Sciences Sociales du Vietnam (IISS) et l’École française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) vous présentent leur photothèque virtuelle commune qui rassemble de très nombreuses photographies prises au Vietnam et dans différents pays d’Asie et couvrent une période allant du tout début du 20e siècle jusqu’aux années 1980. Elle rassemble le fonds historique de la photothèque de l’EFEO alors basée à Hanoi devenu le fonds ancien de l’IISS qui a continué à l’enrichir pendant une vingtaine d’années. L’EFEO complète régulièrement ces fonds d’archives et les met en ligne au fur et à mesure de leur renseignement.

Cette base de données s’est construite autour du tronc commun conservé par l’IISS et l’EFEO (de la création de l’EFEO à 1956). Si les doublons sont par la force des choses présents, les deux institutions ont opté pour un traitement archivistique différent. L’IISS présente l’ensemble du document d’époque : la photographie contrecollée sur un support portant les informations. L’EFEO, quant à elle, a opté pour la numérisation de la photographie uniquement et en parallèle le renseignement d’une base de données qui lui a permis de mettre en ligne des clichés depuis 2014.

Les notices accompagnant ces photographies sont d’origine, elles ont été rédigées par l’équipe franco-vietnamienne du service photographique de l’EFEO jusqu’en 1956 puis par l’Institut d’information en sciences sociales du Vietnam pour les photographies plus récentes.

Nous avons convenu de présenter, en ligne, les données d'origine, malgré des problèmes d'uniformisation dus aux différentes mains qui ont répertorié cette documentation et aux différentes époques que cette collection a traversées. Cela peut parfois gêner la recherche (un même site ou une même divinité peuvent présenter plusieurs orthographes au sein de cette base de données).

Néanmoins une relecture des données d’origine en français et en vietnamien a été effectuée, l’actualisation de certaines informations (toponymes), la création de mots clefs permettant à l’outil de recherche d’être efficace ainsi que l’adaptation au format d’import du site de mise en ligne a été un long travail collaboratif entre l’IISS et l’EFEO.

Ce projet, fruit d’une active collaboration entre les deux institutions, a été initié en 2019 par Andrew Hardy, alors responsable du Centre EFEO de Hanoi.

A hundred photographs that may shock are blurred. They are accessible on request thanks to a personal access code that you can obtain by going to the Contact section (tab Infos pratiques).


The Institute of Social sciences Information (ISSI) and the French School of Asian Studies (EFEO) are pleased to present their joint virtual photo library, which includes a large number of photographs taken in Vietnam and other Asian countries from the very beginning of the 20th century to the 1980s. It brings together the historical collection of the EFEO's photo library, then based in Hanoi, and the old collection of the IISS, which continued to enrich it for some twenty years. The EFEO regularly adds to these archives and puts them online as they become available.

This database was built around the common core maintained by the ISSI and the EFEO (from the creation of the EFEO to 1956). Although duplication is inevitable, the two institutions have opted for different treatments of their respective archives. The IISS presents the whole original document: the photograph laminated on a support bearing information about it. The EFEO, on the other hand, has opted for the digitization of the photograph alone and placed the information about in parallel in a database that has allowed it to put the photographs online since 2014.

 

The notes accompanying these photographs are original, they were written by the Franco-Vietnamese team of the EFEO’s photographic service until 1956, and then for the more recent photographs by Vietnam’s Institute of Social Sciences Information.

 

We have agreed to present the original data online, despite the problems of standardization due to the different hands that have catalogued this documentation and the different eras that this collection has gone through. This can sometimes hinder research (within this database the same site or the same divinity can have several spellings).

 

Nevertheless, the original data in French and in Vietnamese has been checked, certain information (toponyms) has been updated, key words enhancing the search tool’s efficiency  have been created,  and the collection has been adapted to the import format of the website. This was a lengthy collaborative work carried out by the ISSI and the EFEO.

This project, the result of active collaboration between the two institutions, was initiated in 2019 by Vũ Hùng Cường, director of the ISSI, and Andrew Hardy, then head of the EFEO Center in Hanoi and Isabelle Poujol, head of the EFEO photo library.

Viện Thông tin Khoa học xã hội (ISSI) - Viện Hàn lâm Khoa học xã hội Việt Nam và Viện Viễn Đông Bác cổ Pháp (EFEO) giới thiệu thư viện ảnh ảo chung gồm một số lượng lớn các bức ảnh được chụp ở Việt Nam và nhiều nước châu Á từ đầu thế kỷ 20 đến những năm 1980. Thư viện này tập hợp phông ảnh lịch sử của EFEO được hình thành trong giai đoạn đặt trụ sở tại Hà Nội, sau đó trở thành bộ sưu tập ảnh của ISSI, ngày càng phát triển phong phú hơn trong khoảng thời gian 20 năm. EFEO thường xuyên bổ sung các phông lưu trữ này và đăng tải lên website.

Cơ sở dữ liệu này được xây dựng từ một phần chung được lưu trữ ở ISSI và EFEO (từ khi thành lập EFEO đến năm 1956). Vì vậy sẽ có ảnh trùng nhau nhưng mỗi cơ quan có cách chỉnh lý lưu trữ khác nhau. ISSI giới thiệu toàn bộ tư liệu: ảnh được dán lên bìa có ghi chép các thông tin liên quan. EFEO chỉ số hóa ảnh và đồng thời nhập thông tin vào cơ sở dữ liệu để đăng ảnh lên website kể từ năm 2014.

Các biểu ghi kèm theo ảnh là nguyên bản được nhân sự người Pháp và Việt của phòng Tư liệu ảnh EFEO thực hiện cho đến năm 1956. Viện Thông tin Khoa học xã hội Việt Nam tiếp nối công việc này đối với các bức ảnh về sau.

Chúng tôi thống nhất đăng tải toàn bộ dữ liệu gốc, mặc dù gặp phải một số vấn đề về chuẩn hóa do tư liệu này được nhiều người lập danh mục ở các giai đoạn khác nhau. Điều này đôi khi có thể gây khó khăn khi tra cứu (nhiều thuật ngữ được sử dụng trong cơ sở dữ liệu này để xác định cùng một địa điểm hoặc cùng một vị thần).

Tuy nhiên, ISSI và EFEO đã hiệu đính dữ liệu gốc bằng tiếng Pháp và tiếng Việt, cập nhật một số thông tin (tên địa danh), tạo từ khóa để làm công cụ tìm kiếm hiệu quả cũng như điều chỉnh định dạng nhập dữ liệu website. Đây là một nỗ lực hợp tác lâu dài giữa hai cơ quan.
